Thanksgiving is approaching, and although it is one of the most special and celebrated days in the United States, it is also celebrated in the Sultana del Norte.

This special date is always celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November and marks the beginning of the holiday season. Thanksgiving revolves around families and friends getting together to have dinner and give thanks for the blessings received during the year, both materially and spiritually.

This celebration dates back to 1620, when a group of English settlers arrived aboard a ship called the Mayflower to America to settle in the Plymouth Rock Colony (now Massachusetts).

Thanks to the help of the Wampanoag Indians, the settlers obtained a great harvest, and decided to thank them with a dinner for having taught them new farming, hunting and fishing techniques.

This great celebration was considered the first Thanksgiving Day in history. Over the years it began to be celebrated in more colonies and states of the United States. In 1817 the fourth Thursday of November was decreed as a holiday and in 1863 as a non-working day throughout the country.

The protagonist of the dinner is always baked turkey, and it is a tradition to use the ingredients used by the original native Indians. Cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and apple pie are also traditional dishes on this date.

The people of Monterrey, as good neighbors of the United States, love the culinary delights that Thanksgiving offers, and that is why some restaurants offer traditional Thanksgiving dishes that will make your mouth water.

We tell you where you can try the delicious and traditional Thanksgiving turkey in Monterrey, take note!
